The Maryland Gold Star Mothers Chapter was formed in the 1940s and chartered on November 11, 1946, to support families of those in the military during WW II, Korea, and Vietnam Wars. Maryland and Delaware then combined to work with those who were grieving. Over the years, membership dwindled and the Chapter became inactive. With the United States’ involvement in the Global War on Terror, along with the dangers of regular military life, there has been a rise in the number of Gold Star Mothers in our states.
